Touring - Looking for Info on Bianchi San Remo

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just talked to someone who has a Bianchi San Remo which he may be parting with. He says it is about 7 or 8 years old. I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about its geometry (road or touring) and its componentry. It definitely is all Italian with a steel frame. Thanks for any info!

I have a 1996 model and I think that was the first year they made the San Remo. I think they made them thru about 2003 or so. I had a lot of trouble finding info on mine but I did find a site at http://www.airfreetires.com/specs/Step5.asp?BikeId=27129&Brand=Bianchi&Model=San+Remo&Year=1996 that had some info. If you hit that web site, you can change the year in the address and see the same info for other years up to around 98 or 99 I think. You may need to determine the year by the bike color. The 96 like mine was a dark gray with Celeste decals. The Bianchi web site has info from their archived going back to around 2001 with info on the San Remo from those years.
The San Remo is a lugged steel bike built for light duty touring. Has a slightly longer wheel base than a regular road bike but not as long as the serious touring bikes. I had my frame stripped and repained and then added all new components. I just fininshed my rebuild and I intend to make some short tours this fall as soon as the weather cools down a bit.
