Fifty Plus (50+) - The yellow hornet (Mercier) is built

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

After a few frustrations, and a delay the Mercier is built. If I keep her I'll probably need to replace the 100mm stem with a 80mm stem. With 9 speed (105 or better group) 19 lbs, carbon seat stay and fork - triple butted Columbus Zonal 2004 frame. A short 1 mile ride proved she is big - and rides smooth....

Yellow tires ... ack!
That's a very bold colored bike. Would definitely make me notice it if it came down the street at me.
Nicely done!

Yes, they are a bit wild - and dirty already. OTOH they were $10 each and may make the bike more marketable. If I didn't own two other 9 speed bikes I'd definitely keep her.
DG - Yep, not all white - but my Paramount and Raleigh are predominately white, and even the Fuji has some white.

Alas, a nice looking bike but no historical connection to the Merciers of old. But from what I read, the current ones are fine bikes.

Carefully inspecting the pedals for evidence of heresy.....
A double! Compact or 53/39?

Nicely done. It just oozes summer. I like it. Heck, in the middle of the winter, looking at it would make me smile in remembrance of summer sunshine.

Its a cheap 105 53/39 crankset I got for my ss earlier this year - 160mm.

I'd like handlebar tape like that, but it's not legal in my state.
