My roommate just got one last night. we built it up and went for a ride. I have to say its a nice bike. the paint is a cool metallic purple color, not excellently done but good enough. The geometry is not the stuff of a true track bike, but it is very nimble. the bike feels reasonably stiff, and it made him faster on the streets for sure. this would be a great first track bike if your looking to race, but you have to remember its only about 200 after shipping, and you get what you pay for. He will be using it as a fixie for the street, and I think it will work out very well. its a nice bike.

.....ahhh, somehow this feels like bad viral marketing.
does anyone who isn't a "newbie" with no other posts care to slap up a few pics of your new Sparton?

yeah, i agree. check the guys post history and you'll see why.
So I just wanted to put in an update here, two more people that I know have gotten sparten frames. and although I do still like them a lot and would recommend them it seems like as the prices are going up the finish quality (which was already not great) is going down. the last one that I helped build seemed like it only had clear coat on about 75% of the frame.
The spartons still ride awesome and the build quality seems about where it should be, but seeing as the prices have gone up I don't know if they are still the awesome bargain they originally were. if you can find one for under $250 i'd say get on it, and spray a clear coat on it before you build it.
