Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - SS riding brakeless?? You gotta be kidding.

I don't know if this is new, or just seeing the first one made me look for more, but I have seen 3 people riding a SS bike (saw them coasting with my own two eyes, i tells ya.) with NO brakes, in the past week. No front brake, no rear....

Is suicide in this year? Or are these kids just clueless and saw a fixie, and figured they needed this particular fashion accessory(or lack there-of?)? What do you all think?

Are you sure they didn't have coaster brakes?

If riding brakeless with a SS, at least invest in a quality helmet! :D

many bmx'rs ride with no brakes, is it so hard to imagine riding a bigger bike without them? not saying its a good idea but maybe they are comfortable jamming their foot down on the tire to stop

I had a guy ride the Drunkdodger alleycat last year list himself as "SS, no brakes". I didn't catch it at the time, caught it afew days later, and shat a brick. I guess his brake system involved jamming a shoe in the rear wheel and prayer. He finished, too, which was pleasantly surprising.

sounds ultimately cooler than fixed no brakes...
