Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - can't tell if I hate the new grips and tape or what

I thought these bars would work well--but I kinda hate the
color--thoughts?

I think I had some lead paint in my coffee this morning--wtf. Oh well-
won't be the first or last dollar I spend on stuff for bikes.

You're screwed on the tape but you should be able to pick up some black RIT dye for $5 at rite-aid or wherever and dye the ourys.

i'm having issues like this with my new bullhorns. i wrapped them with that new fiziki stuff... and i don't like them. i'm waiting until i mess it up before i rewrap them in gold cloth. but i'm not riding aggressively them until i pick up a cross brake lever with a 26.0 clamp.

Curious as to why you don't like the fizik. I liked it on my drops... it felt nice but it was too gaudy so I removed the tape and Ourys.

I'm just glad you wrapped your bars. Unwrapped bars are the WORST trend that's ever hit cycling.

Yyyuck! Black tape will take care of it though.

BTW for flipchops you can generally do it with one roll, especially if you stretch it hard while wrapping. Ask a shop if they will sell one roll only.

Dirty? Those dont' come close to dirty. My yellow Oury's come pretty close to black on the raised sections now.

Not the aforementioned dirty Oury's, but brand new yellow Deda tape, which is now slightly dirty. I should take some pictures of the Oury's in their current state - it's pretty spectacular. It'll take me a while to get the Deda tape dirty enough that I'm not bothered by how bright it is.

never seen anyone pull off the rubber grips + cork.. prolly a bad idea... unless yer like me and care more about the comfort of your hands than your cycle aesthetics...

Seriously, why bother? A new pair of ourys would cost 10 bucks.

they need to be black with white ourys.

I am thinking about using champ grips and bar tape, I think that would look alot better, just because it doesnt look like you having some ******** jelly dong on your bars

If you want to keep the flashy colors, it would probly work if you used red tape under the yellow grips.

Nah, yellow in no way works other than the fact that yellow matches well with red.

What you want to do is indentify other colors in your bike and "pull" those colors out. You can work with black,chrome and maybe white, for your bar tape/grip combo.

I give you dirty yellow Ourys.

Also, what the hell is wrong with having Ourys on the tops of your drops? If that's where you usually have your hands, why not? Use what works - to hell with anything else.

Why on earth would you take that away from what I said? I think that combining Ourys and tape is ugly and stupid, and good tape gives you (or at least me) as much comfort as Ourys do.

so i redid the whole mess with black tape/grips and I'm reasonably satisfied.
The grips with tape doesn't make for a clean look but they are great for riding
around town while the long bar ends give you room for really leaning forward
when on long rides or for skids/skips
