Hello all,

I'm trying to restore my 1890s steer from the rear tandem. I am currently trying to remove the 3 piece cranks. I was able to make an excellent removal tool by grinding a socket.

The rear crank came apart with moderate effort. The front 3 piece crank, which is on the right side of the bicycle, is proving much more difficult. My question is - are the threads reverse?

This is 1890, so it is possible that reversing the threads on a crank was not yet standard protocol. However, the pedal threading is typically reversed for L & R on both front and rear crank sets.

Any thoughts? I'm really worried I'm going to strip the lock nut if I torque it too hard the wrong way.

Thanks!

Cassidy
