Extremely challenging circuit race. 1.8ish km laps.

Final info:
4 man breakaway out of the gates. Two of us were alone off the front after 4 laps. I was 200-300 meters behind my breakaway companion after 6 laps, and never closed it until the end. We lapped the entire field by lap 14 of 15. The "peloton" got disintegrated by the time we had done it. They ended the race on our lead lap, and next closest rider was 20 seconds behind me a lap down.

Placed second. Won: 6 pack of Asahi Draft Beer

Well this is the guy I placed second against today:

Aside from MTB, he currently ranks as the #17 Cat 2 road racer in Japan (tied for 17th with 2 others)

Do the races fill up fast hence sleeping in van, or was it a long drive which Japan isn't known for? Nice report.

Why not known for long drives? This race was 3 hours away and is the closest race to me I've done since May. For me, it's always easier to arrive at the race location very very early to prevent the last minute running around because I can't speak/read the language. Plus, this was the start of O-bon week in Japan which means the highways are packed. Driving home took me 5 hours instead of 3 that it took me to get there.
