General Cycling Discussion - Quick question:tire size

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've got 700x23 on the bike right now and I have some extra 700x28 tubes from the old tires. So the question is: In the event my 700x23's get a flat can I use a 700x28 tube as a "get me back to civilization" spare?

Yes. In fact, the 28 tube is probably intended for tires from 23-28... Even if it isn't, you can always get away by using a bigger-than-the-tire tube...
