Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Paddy Wagon Owners: Tire Clearance?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking to replace my KHS Flite frame with something with a little more tire clearance.
I was considering a steamroller, but the lack of fender brazeons and the price put me off a little bit, since there are other options around that will take a fatter tire (but not nearly as fat).
So I'm now considering a Paddy wagon.
My question to you PW owners is: How fat of a tire can you stuff in there? with fenders
I know that a 28c will fit, since that's the stock tire, but is there any chance i could squeeze in say a 32c cross tire?
I've got one, but I really couldn't tell you as I've not tried cross tires on it(yet). There is quite a bit of clearance, though. Try contacting Kona directly through their website. maybe? Sorry I can't be more help.
what about the crosscheck

I'm not to big on the crosscheck. The geometry doesn't really inspire me. I want something more "road"-like and less "cross"-like. and realistically I don't see myself ever wanting to go fatter than a 35c.
I sent an email to Kona's tech department. the guy who answered seemed pretty convinced that the limitation was the ability to stuff a tire in the brake caliper. He seemed pretty convinced that it's almost impossible for a caliper to clear a 32c.
shenanigans, i say.
which i why i'm looking for real-world data.
Gonna go brake less then?

no, not brakeless.
i just know for a fact that it is indeed possible to stuff a 32c into a long reach brake.
