Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - messenger bag size

I currently use a bailey's large size bag and was looking to go larger. Was wonder if anyone use the XXL size and if it became awkward at this size. I am average size and I tried it on, but not out in the real world, any input would be appreicated.

I use the XL and that's as big as you ever need to go. Anything bigger and you'll never feel any comfort, it's just not logical....Well, maybe if you're homeless or a trainhopper, sure since that's your entire life.

But the XL is as big as you ever want to go. 2,300 cubes is huge.

i was given the largest timbuk2 and i hate it.

i totally agree,... when i fill my XL to the max it's pretty tough to wield and becomes kind of painful,... also the larger the bag, the more **** you feel entitled to carry with you at all times,... like a full tool set, extra chain, extra spokes, multiple locks and bottles,... etc... it's dooming yourself to a really ****ty back

I just thought about it and hate when folks put a word or just a pic as feedback, so I'll give mine. As I had a 3000cubic square inch bag before (Chrome Kremlin) I didn't find it bad at all even though others said it was gigantic. It is very useful when you need to carry more than avg things on bike which may not come often, but when it does you're glad you are prepared. I carried a 50lb bag of salt home in it and 24pack of water as well. Unfortunately comfort was not a plus when carrying XL things in a Kremlin so I upgraded and invested in a Pac Ultimate OS (3600cubic sq in) for comfort, usability, and size matters (more pocket options). Pac loading system is superb with heavy things because of the insane amount of adjustments that can be made to make loads very mananagable. I have no experience with a bailey though. Here's more pics of what i can carry with the PAC. Def great for grocery shopping. its nice not need a car for some things now.

i've got an xl as well. when worn near empty it'll go from over my left shoulder down around my ribs on my right side.

the bigger problem, is that since it's so big, the strap has to be that much longer. when i cinch it down for a ride across town, i use nearly all the available strap - so there is a good portion fluttering off to my side.

i'm about 5'8", around 160, so i'm not necessarily small.

get a big backpack trust me mine fits two bankers boxes easy

of course what your use is for it def depends on what size you need. im no messenger but constantly do all my transport by bike so now I have a trunk (bag) to my car (bike)

Yeah I own a Chrome Kremlin and rarely use it. It's handy for carrying loads of groceries or whatnot but completely silly overkill for everyday riding. It's big enough I've actually had multiple people laugh at me when I put it on because it's so ridiculously large.

If you find yourself needing a bigger bag though, get a bigger bag. Our experiences can't help you there.

Huge bags are awesome for hauling huge loads but totally awkward otherwise. If you need to haul more ****, get a bigger bag. Just keep a medium or large size bag for the times when you don't need to carry a sink or a bag of rock salt or a keg.

I can't believe there is even a market for these bags. I keep wanting to go big thinking "what if" but I will stick with the 1000-1800 range.

My R.E.Load Courier is the perfect big. It sits nicely empty, but is still comfortable (yet heavy) with a week's worth of **** in it.

I would go large backpack size. Don't hurt your neck/shoulder all day with heavy stuff.

I can't believe people carry around 3000 cubic inch messenger bags. If you filled that thing up, you'd be a friggin' sail, going wherever the wind carried you.

i've got the medium sized chrome bag...is it the metropolis...i've been thinking about getting a courier size reload. i think my brother got a reload in courier size so i'm gonna get to check it out when he gets it.
with the chrome i have, riding around with a 12 pack in my bag for a night ain't even that big of a deal as long as you get it set in there right.
