Road Cycling - Ah..Mah...Gah! Got my new machine!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just picked up my new (and first ever) road bike today from the shop.

I decided on a 2003 Specialized Allez Elite. Got some Look A3.1 pedals and Specialized 03 Pro Road Shoes. Also got the Flight Deck computer and a new Giro Pneumo helmet (the old Bell was just way too hot).

After taking a few minutes to aquaint myself with the clipless pedals and road shifters, I took her out.

Awesome! I should have ditched the mtb a long time ago. I could not be happier! It feels fast just sitting on it.

Any of you guys that ride on the road with your ole mountain bikes thinking about getting a road bike...I say, do it! You will love it!

Also, I'm gonna plug my LBS here in Boulder County, Colorado because I was so impressed with how much time and attention they gave me as a newbie. Louisville Cyclery is an excellent shop!

Thanks to those kind folks on this board for helping me make my decision.

I'll see you guys out there!!!!

A word on bicycle photography conventions: A bike must always be photographed from the drive side. Go back and do it again! ;)

Nice ride. Get miles.

AWESOME!

I'm a recent mtb to roadie convert (1 week Tuesday) and I'm right there with you. I've already tacked on +1.5 mph on my old rides! Welcome to the club from one of its newest members! ;)

The Elite is a sweet bike, and for the price you really can't beat it.
