We just returned from a week in the Wisconsin north woods. Had a wonderful time! We skylarked a couple of days so ended up with around 250 miles for the week. Mrs Grouch rode her age (in the rain) on the day after her birthday. Picked a perfect week to vacation up north. While our friends were sweltering in 100 degree heat in St Louis, we actually had to run the heater one evening in our motel. Riding weather was near perfect.

Oh, and we came home to new floors. They're beautiful! Unfortunately, the contractor scratched our dining table so we have to negotiate an adjustment for that.

So what is the big deal about riding 22 miles???;)

Congrats to her and I hope your table gets sorted out. Bet the floors look great.

Where in the North Woods?

Merill, Rhinelander, Eagle River, Tomahawk. Lots of lakes and lots of trees.

Congratulations to Mrs. Grouch for the birthday ride and to you for having a wife who will ride a bike. If we had a green-with-envy emoticon, you would see it in this reply.

Sounds like a great trip. I still hope to ride up around Red Wing, MN and get back to the Elroy-Sparta trail in Sept and/or Oct.

Congrats to Mrs. Grouch and you on getting in a lot of miles.

Enjoy any other activities while up there? Nice little towns? Festivals? Good meals?

Props to Mrs. G and riding in the rain. Good job!

Sounds like a pleasant trip, and the scenery sounds pretty, too.

Were the floors a surprise, or was she expecting them?
