Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - I figured I might as well ask...shimano or suntour

So I have Shimano 105 cranks laying around, and currently on my bike are Suntour Superbe Pro. My instinct tells me the Suntour are better..correct?

From the bike-god 11.4:

On Suntour Superbe Pro cranks, do be aware that they just aren't all that stiff compared to a Dura Ace 7710 or a Sugino Super Mighty. While the Suntour is stylish, I'd actually recommend you look at the 7710 or Super Mighty. I've had nothing but good experiences with both of these. The Super Mighty gets something like 25 drop forging steps (compared with about 3 for the Sugino 75), which you can actually see in the edges and back of the crank, but it makes it ferociously stiff and durable. And it fits all the Hatta and Sugino tapered-spline bottom brackets, or a Phil Wood if you're so inclined. I like a lot of Superbe Pro equipment, both road and track, but the cranks just aren't as good as the rest of the line.

Edit: Sorry, my sloppiness. I was referring to the Sugino Grand Mighty.

I wonder how they compare to regular old Sugino 75's, though.

Suntour > Shimano

Suntours will be lighter, and will look better IMHO. I had a set and should have never sold them. 105's are fine, but if you can tell the difference in stiffness between the two I would be really impressed.

I'd go for the Suntour based on looks.

I posted in another thread about this but---Sugino 75s are designed to be stiffer than the Mighty's.

They really are great looking. I like the old Dura Ace too, but the crown logo is neat on the Sugino's.
I only asked about the current models.....sorry!
