The wife and I expect to have our semi-recumbent tandem on the road in the St. Helena area for a short ride and lunch that day. You may see us.

Velodiva and I will be there riding our silver Santana tandem - 65 miles. We will probably start around 9AM.

Hermes:

We will start around 6:30 to 7:00 am. I think it will take us about 6 - 6.5 hours of riding time + 1.2 hours (4 x .3) for rest stops. We should be finished between 2-2:30 pm. Look for us, we will be wearing green and white kits : Sport & Spine.

As I remember, the 100 mile does a section and then joins the 65 mile route. I suspect you will be returning to the start as we commence the 65. There is a reasonable chance we will see you on the road.

Well the weather was fantastic. We met sooo many nice cyclists today. The ride takes you through the wine country in Northern CA on roads that are not heavily traveled by cars. This is one of the more beautiful century rides we have done. It is the first century for Michelle and I - we loved it. We met Hermes and Velodeva at one of the rest stops. They were getting ready to ride out as we came in, so we chatted for a while. Met another tandeming couple Paul and Carol, been tandeming for 20+ years. Saw about 3 other tandems on the ride.
Our ride was pretty incredible. We averaged 18.5 mph, 5 hours and 18 minutes riding time (actually odometer said 98 miles/5000 feet of climbing). I bent our front wheel pretty badly doing a slow U turn. Got into the soft dirt on the shoulder and the tire sank and grabbed. Our combined weight tacoed it pretty well. Fortunately this was coming into a rest stop. The bike tech there was able to staighten out the wheel to about 1/2" of true. We adjusted the front brakes and rode her home - a little slower on the decents of course.
I still feel amped up from the ride. Having my SO with me, riding together was pretty special.

Anyway that is the short ride report from this end.

Take care.
