Folding Bikes - Paratrooper as a dedicated MTB

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I posted a question in another thread regarding this same issue, but I figured that a dedicated thread might yield more responses. I'm considering selling my present bike (Surly Karate Monkey) and replacing it with a Paratrooper. Before I do, I want to be sure that the Paratrooper will work well as a mountain bike.
Thanks
I have the Hummer version of the Montague Paratrooper and I use it both off road and on road. If you plan to do serious off road stuff, it might be worth upgrading the front forks. Rather than that, the frame is strong and will not let you down.

Thanks for the reply! I've pretty much decided to try one out. Now, I just need the money. Have you tried contacting Montague at all?. I sent them a few emails, but no replies. It would be nice to have some confidence their customer support.

I have been using mine as my only MTB for the past 5 months. I did make a few changes, like the fork, but other than that the bike is still stock for the drivetrain. I had a KM and a few other 29er's last year...but I really liked the way the Trooper rode and handled. I spent a week out Socal on some of their morenteresting trails in San Diego county, and came away a believer.
