Road Cycling - How do i get involved?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've been looking for a cycling club around San Francisco and i can't find any. What's the best way to get more involved in cycling? Eventually i want to compete, but it seems like there's nothing going on in this city.
Help.
Check the web for San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, it may be helpful.

Checked out those sites and stuff. I've searched on google before, there don't seem to be any good clubs based in SF. The marin cycling club for example, is intended for singles to meet partners!
I'm 17, i'm just looking for a club to get better. Maybe it would be better just to get a cyclocomputer and heart rate monitor and follow a training schedule myself?
Do any of these help?
Almaden Cycle Touring Club: www.actc.org (San Jose)
Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club: www.fremontfreewheelers.org (East Bay)
Grizzly Peak Cyclists: www.grizzlypeakcyclists.org (Berkeley)
Valley Spokesman: www.valleyspokesman.org (East Bay)
You might also want to try going to some events. You should be able to meet people who can tell you what clubs are in the area.
