Another ***** in the "Bicyclists don't hurt anybody" argument used to justify red light and stop sign running (note that this accident did not involve running a stop. However, it does demonstrate the falsehood of the argument that "bicyclists don't hurt anybody" in a collision):

PORTLAND - Two bicyclists collided Sunday, leaving one with life-threatening injuries.

Police say this two-bike crash was not related to the bridge pedal event that was going on at the time.

The riders were two white men in their 50s.

A 56-year-old was riding his bicycle southbound on the sidewalk in the area of Southeast 11 Avenue and Southeast Stark Street, when he collided with a 52-year-old riding eastbound through a parking lot near the intersection.

The 56-year old was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries. The 52-year-old was not injured.

Police said both cyclists appeared to be local transients, and neither was wearing a helmet.

Thousands are injured while riding bikes. Does not appear that these folks where running a light. There are degrees of running lights. There is the, "oops I did not even see the light", that was run at full speed. Then there is the stop and see that it is safe and then you go method. As well as the swooping right, (to look for cars going through the green), then swooping left to run the light after you see that there are no cars comming from the right.

Just stop at lights, and signs.
