Just recently Ive noticed a sound coming out of my front mavic cxp-21 wheel I have on my bike. If I lift the front of the bike up and spin the wheel there sounds like theres a crackling sound. If I turn the wheel so it is parallel to the ground, the sound all but disappears. I dont have any loose spokes, my computer magnet is secure. Any ideas?

It's probably the sound of your bearings grinding themselves into oblivion. Have you opened the hub?

I havent opened the hub, dont even know how to do that. When I listen real close to the wheel it doesnt even sound like its the hub, more along the spokes. I checked the nipples they arent loose or anything. I just changed the tube in that tire but nothing would be rattling around in there right?

The spokes would make the sound travel from the hub down to the rim. So you would have to listen very carefuly to see where the sound comes from. I would agreee with Dave though, I would suspect the bearings.

Needs new bearings. Nothing else in a front hub could make a noise like that.
