Hi folks,

I weigh in @ 200 even. My goal is lose about 20 lbs, but more would be better. Today for my ride I rode 8.7 miles and my computer read 16 avg speed. The route was great with some nice hills and nice flats as well. It was very humid in MN today so I couldn't go the 5 miles I wanted to go. Any tips on going further other than keep at it?

Put another magnet on your front wheel and it will seem like you are going twice as far, twice as fast. Either that, or just keep at it!

Don't sweat it. You will be amazed how fast you will build up.

If you can ride 10 miles in the Heat, you can 25 in the cool fall air. So keep riding, and keep hydrated!!!!

Oh yeah, and that other magnet works great!!! :D

Within weeks your milage with double if you are only 200lbs. I'm 310 and ride 30 miles no problem. But my average speed is lower than yours. I'll average 13-14 on the roads, 12 if they are really hilly, or 15-16 on the trail. I hope to be riding again soon and we'll get together. You're milage will go way up if you keep pace with me.

I look forward to meeting with you. It will be great to not ride solo. :)

Todays ride was taxing but thoroughly enjoyable. It was full of many climbs and despite a lot of uphill climbs, I kept my average up to 17.4 during the 10.6 mile ride.

The humidity really sucks it out of me. You get out on a nice day and I think you will do even better. Just keep it up and keep hydrated and the miles will come faster than you probably expect.

I just wanted to throw out an update. Today I did 12 miles and still had enough energy to do more; however, I didn't as my water was gone. :S

Just do it, Greg.

And we want to see photos of the bike.

Easy solution. Carry more water. I love having two water bottle cages on my road bike. Now if I could just drink it all. :-(

I carry two and fill up when I see somewhere to do it. I know the spots on my normal rides. I also typically drink one (over a half hour or so) before I even go. And still I am pretty dehydrated when I get done. I sweat a lot. lol

I always carry a camelbak that fits 2 liters of water, and typically another bottle in the single cage my bike accommodates. Surprisingly, I drink all of that water in just 10 miles. :)

Here is a shot of my bike from 10 minutes ago:

It's a cheap Schwinn Prelude. It weighs 25 lbs, but I enjoy it. I hope to buy a giant tcr2 this spring. :)
