$85 is a lot for a one-day bike ride. This appears to be a for-profit operation with no proceeds going to any charities. Is the support worth it?

The support during AMBBR was good. They closed the road on the climb up Inspiration Point so that was nice. It is expensive when you count the hotel stay and trip up to Tahoe but you could roll it into a weekend. As much as I liked AMBBR, it's just so crowded with so many Team In Training teams. They in themselves aren't so annoying just that they feel the need to call out every pebble and small rut that isn't even worth the breath.

I'll be in that area. Driving SAG for the MS150- Great Basin Chapter. Sep 9 (second day) we will be doing an out and back on Donner Pass road. Everything starts and ends at Northstar.

For me, it was worth the $85 to have some traffic control and the volume of many riders out. Those roads seem like they would be too dodgy (for this guy) to do alone on a regular weekend due to traffic volume and high speeds. I hope that there will be safety in numbers.

I am also camping for only $22/nt, so the cost for the whole weekend shouldn't be too bad.

I'm doing the ride with a handful of friends. Be careful of the drains on the stretch of road from Incline to Spooner. They've separated from the asphalt and the gap is wide enough for a tire.
