Foo - Okay you guys. I'm coming out of the closet.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It's okay, Siu. Society is much more tolerant of such deviant acts than it used to be. I understand that the American Psychiatric Association doesn't even consider it a mental illness any more. :p

No!!!! Don't go to the darkside!!!!!
real roadies do not use insulated water bottles. the insulation adds unneeded weight.

Yeah, with that lightweight bike you got to switch the pedals and get rid of the water bottles and cages - too much weight. Take along some straws and drink from rain puddles and streams on the routes :)

I think those are signs that she is only roadie curious. Come on Sui, go all the way. It looks like you are confused. You wouldn't want to end up in a 'camp' for roadie curious. (OK I admit I watch way too much South Park).
On the serious side I think walkable clipless shoes and pedals are worth looking into once you are ready.

So do you ride your custom Ti bike to Starbucks and spend hours there sipping mocha cappafrappacinos? And get rid of those pedals and commit!
I, Siu Blue Wind, am officially a roadie now.
You...disappoint me. :(
Siu, I think you became a roadie when you bought the $$$ bike. ;)
Why did Pheard remove his post? Are you ashamed of being a roadie? You should be.
What the......
I just got Pearl Izumi clipless shoes, and insulated water bottles too.
Whoa. We both got mtb ones too.

Around here we call pavement that goes through urban mountains roads, and the skinny tired bikes that go through them bikes, hence the term road bikes.

And certainly not chain stay covers on a Ti bike !! Tell me those are not red plastic cages on a custom Ti bike! That bike was photographed without the chain in the big/small combo? No white garage door?

Does somebody want my road bike? I am seriously considering putting it on the tracks by Alewife T station - where all my other bikes have gone to die. My once high end shimano 600 pedals have been creaking horribly for weeks now, my pant leg got caught in my front derailer (a crude and clumsly designed device if ever there was one) -which bent it and now it rubs against the chain rendering the big chain ring useless. And now my rear shifter or brifter refuses to shift out of 'granny' gear.. It took me like fourty minutes to ride to work tonight, where as it usually only takes like 15-18 minutes.
All of this happened to my bike within the past month.. who needs this ****? I am giong back to my first love, my ss/fg. Screw you roadies and the bikes you road in on.

These are the pedals that are on the bike. I wanted half and halfs so I don't HAVE to wear clipless.

These are the other pedals I have but are waiting till I get used to riding clipless before I use them.

Here are the shoes, I got the mtb type so I can have walkability.
http://www.pearlizumi.com/phpThumb.php?src=/data/uploads/products/5097_6AP.jpg&w=290&
I did not have a chance to ride with them - I had to take my sister out to dinner - I only practiced clipping in and out for a looooong time. I loosed the tension and oiled them like Vega said to do.
Well.....I guess I COULD have taken it out for a little bit but I chickened out. But I did at least BUY the shoes!
And as for getting rid of the insulated bottles??? Too bad. I need COLD water when my asthma attacks come into play. And I ain't no racer so weight doesn't mean anything to me other than what I myself need to lose!! :p
