Yes this may sound weird, but, I'm about to turn 16. I've been taking flying lessons for about 2 years now and am ready to solo right on my b-day. As my instructor gives me more freedom to fly farther, I will be in reach of some MTB hot spots like Snow Shoe, Sugar Mountain, Tsali, Black Mountain, Clemson trails and etc. I was wondering though, how am I gonna get my mountain bike on board. If any of you know about aircraft, I fly the usual Cessna 172. Im thinking about just taking it apart everytime, but that will most likely get very annoying. Any suggestions?

Take the front and back wheels off and put it behind the pilot seats... Also, don't crash. If you do crash, land on some L shaped lake... < crappy book reference.

I hated that book with an absolute passion, it took me too short of a time to finish it. It stunk so bad I read it a bit quicker and the teacher forced me to read the damn thing all over again.

You should fly for Bombardier. You would have plenty of room for your bikes, and me too.

I flew my bike to Ocala a few times in a cherokee. Took the back seats out and it fit fine after taking the wheels off, actually put 2 bikes back there. Just remember a few rags so you dont get any grease on the carpet.

A cessna 172 would be a tight fit for a bike, you would have to take the wheels off just to get it through the door, even then it might be tricky with the handle bars. Good luck on your solo I really enjoyed mine, just wait until you start practicing stalls by yourself, I hated those; my instructor made me perform full stalls :(.

You could actually take a few friends with you.

I rememeber when it was cheaper to fly a cessna than drive to the destination.
