hi guys never posted here before, im thinking of buying one of these two bikes for a foul weather commuter and almost definitly to delve into cx this season. which of these bikes do you think would be best for cx?
the spec on both is pretty similar. as far as racing cx, either will do you fine.

FWIW the Raleigh routes cable under the top tube.
Can't say much about the one-way...the specs look similar. I do Have a 07 SJ, great bike. Currently I have it set up for CX with 34 x 17 gearing and Salsa bell lap bars. It does surprisingly well on single track. The front fork is a tad flexy. Set up for road duty it has also performed well with a spirited ride (with 28 tires). In all it's a very versatile rig and I love the old world looks.

If you want a one speed cx, the Bianchi San Jose is great and has a light steel frame. You can even ride it fixed gear if you want. And you can put on a rack and mount fenders with 700C X32 tires. For the price, you can't go wrong with the San Jose. I love mine. If you want to tour, there's Sheldon Brown's San Jos8 solution for an optional future upgrade.
