Very funny!.
Um, Solveg, what are you doing hanging around this site? My mental image of you resembles Catherine Zeta-Jones.
BTW, I look a lot like Brad Pitt.
I like the MTB perspective on things sometimes!
I'm kind of both a wimpy roadie and a wimpy off-roadie... my bike has these giant big apple balooners and it's made to go on pretty much anything. So I do.
But I don't go 25 mph miles on the road, and I don't bunny hop or leap off dirt mounds...

I am not skinny enough to be a roadie:D, don't like paying to advertise someones product, and would probably break a plastic bike (Carbon Fibre is actually carbon fibre impregnated plastic).
I don't like to have to drive 500 miles, to spend 5 minutes falling in dirt, and then drive home, so I am not an MTBer either. :p
I do like to ride my bike, and I like to actually ride it somewhere, and these days I am working on going further and further. I actually ride an MTB converted to a hybrid, it's a 5 year project to get the bike I really want. Next year I want to swap the 42/32/22 crank for a 48/36/26 crank, and swap the suspension fork for a solid one, I can mount a front rack on, needs to be threadless with V-brake bosses though, so may be tough to find, here in Canada.
I chuckled at a few lines in that one. lol
My HardRock has flat bars, skinny tires, 24 speeds, a rear rack, rack trunk, reflectors and will soon have lights. I think it is an MTB Road Touring Commuter Comfort Hybrid bike. ;) Whatever this Frankenstein is or how I use it, it is fun. :D
I did notice, the few times I have been out on my old, drop bar Schwinn, that the older couples out for a ride on the MUP stopped saying 'Hi' to me. Maybe they have a bad opinion of 'Roadies' or maybe they just thought I couldn't see them in the drops. lol

Are they still the same tires that are on in your biking photos? They look pretty rugged... what are they, and what size are they?

you know personally, for the joy of riding I would much rather be on my mountain bike ;), unfortunately biking on single track never seemed to burn the fat. Guess I view road riding from a different perspective since I would rather Mountain bike.
However I did find that really funny :).

I don't think I have taken any photos since I got the new tires so those are probably the stock knobbies in those pics. I ended up with some Specialized Nimbus Armadillos a little while ago. 26x1.5 inch and no real tread to speak of.
On my way to work yesterday, I crunched part of a broken beer bottle on the shoulder with them at about 17mph...both front and back tire. It was a literal crunch too...I heard it loud and clear! lol
I cringed when I hit it and expected the worst...but, not a problem at all. It definitely boosted my confidence in them as my commuter/road tire. Much quieter and smoother and a bit faster rolling than the knobbies too.

You should! Bunnyhopping is a great skill to have (even if I'm not very good at it) and leaping off dirt mounds and landing without falling is a great way to boost one's confidence in one's bike handling skills. I have found mountain biking gives me a lot of practice in handling a 'wobbly' bike.
As in, yesterday I did some bog trotting at the local reservoir and almost got stuck in mud. A year ago I would have simply gotten stuck and fallen over. Yesterday I knew how to extricate myself without falling or panicking :) .

At some point in my life I decided I just didn't like any activity which involved really loud noise or which made the girls bounce.

^^^^
Um, yes, I can see your point! I learned years ago to stay away from noise (triggers migraines, naturally--what doesn't), and I have some very good sports undergarments for the other issue.
