I wish I could get some of this Julian pie mailed to me. It's a far way to drive for the pie (for me, anyway), but everyone raves about it.

Thanks, Frank! And I plan to be on the Pie ride in November this year if I'm in town. :)

I like Julians pie but I favor Oak Glens. As a matter of fact I wonder if there are any Redlands residents who can put a ride together for Oak Glen apple or cherry pie?

All you need to do to make it brutal is to add a leg that goes to the top of Palomar.

From what I understand, the ride is brutal enough as it is. What? You want to lose me up on Palomar somewhere?:p

it would be more of an out-and-back route, and we'd actually ride up to julian instead of just santa ysabel. then add the option of going back over palomar on the return.

You want brutal?
Start at Harrahs, take 76 to Mesa Grande Road, to 79, to Santa Ysabel, Up 78 to Wynola road, Wynola road to Farmers road into Julian. Have pie at the Julian Pie Company. Go eas on 78 down the Banner grade to Scissors crossing. Left on S2 then back to 79. Take a left on 79 then right on 76. Up East grade of Palomar to South Grade. Down South grade to 76 then back to Harrahs.

Maybe sometime after Everest Challenge...

Which would be at about the right time anyway, as Apple Season is in the fall.

How do ya like this route?

The pie ride does go to the top of Palomar.

My question is why does Chucklehead hate America?

Is he trying to make us hurl our pie?

You eat pie *before* the climb?

Count me out. ;)

The Oak Glen Pie ride would finish with a downhill, all the way back to Redlands.

Ok, that's not entirely true. The latest edit adds one or two short climbs toward the end.

If you want hills though you can start in Idylwild to oak Glen and back through Gilman Springs. I'm not sure how safe it would be though.
