Hello. I have a half IM coming up and want to carry a spare tubular in the chance I might flat out. I've purchased a stretched tubular which I will carry. I would like to pre glue it so in the chance there is a problem I can rip off and pop on and go. Anyone have any suggestions for preglueing? is it a good idea? Once I put a bead of glue on the tire can the tire be folded up on itself for strapping to my rear bottle cage? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks!

If it's preglued, I just lay it on the table and pull it tight at each end(hiding the valve stem). Then just roll it tightly on itself so the tread is together. Then put some electrical tape around it.

Do you have a spare rim to glue this tire to first? As this will spread the glue on the tire to a thin film. After a few days/week remove this tire and fold as suggested by cslone.

The glue will remain tacky and will hold the tire on well enough if you have the need to swap it during the race. Just take any corners a little easier than you normally do...

A tip I use is to leave a short section of the tire without glue (I do this where the tires logo is) and work on this section first when trying to pull off the flatted tire.

Thanks for the tips. One quick thing on the pre glue. How much should I apply to the tire before folding. I've been told just to run a bead around the tire and then let it sit for a day and then fold. Accurate? Thanks.
