Mountain Biking - Replacing GT mtb U-brake
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm planning on replacing my 88 GT Karakoram's rear u-brake with a new one. Any recommendations? To standard BMX u-brakes fit/work on the mtb frame? I was going to order a new Tektro, but I had second thoughts about whether or not it would work. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Bmx U-brakes should work fine. The Dia-Compe 990 has been a mainstay for years.

I just bought a Kuwahara mountain bike with a rear U-brake. What is your experience with this type of brake. Does it work well, how hard is it to adjust, do they work well in the rain and is mud/dirt build up an issue?

Odyssey Evolvers for sure, best out there for under $70.
