Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - TwoFish helmet mounts.

How secure are they? When on the handlebars and also on the helmet? Is the underside of the part attaching tot he flashlight coated in rubber for extra grip? I plan on changing modes a lot and pushing buttons to change moeds pending the lighting/roads I'm on and want to make sure the light stays in place.

If there is no rubber underpart then what is a solution to make the under strap more grippy?

BTW how sensitive is the toggle button atthe end cap for changing modes while riding? Is it as sensitive as a pocket calculator?

Also are you using rechargable CR123's? If so which ones (link please) and what is your run time on them before swapping? If not then what is your runtime or alkalines and what brand?

I use a Fenix P3D which is pretty much a P2D with an extra battery. It is slightly brighter and has longer runtimes.

The tailcap switch is not as sensitive as a pocket calculator. It has a fairly normal feel for a "clicky" type switch, similar to any normal C or D cell mag lite switch. To change modes there isn't a click, just a soft touch on the end, but still more than the average pocket calculator would require. The front of the light also twists to alternate between the turbo (constant/strobe) and normal (low/med/hi/sos) modes. I always use turbo constant at night and strobe during the day. The light is mounted on my helmet with a Livestrong wristband and a rubber spacer from a blinky seatpost mount.

I use Tenergy 3.0v RCR123 900mAh batteries from www.all-battery.com. Runtime is probably near 1 hr on turbo for the P3D, but I've never really done a runtime test and only ran the batteries down once (when I wasn't keeping track of how long they'd been in use...just running errands, and always carry spares so runtime isn't too much of a problem).

I always keep at least one spare set of lithium cr123 batteries (non-rechargeable) in my trunk bag. It is just as important as a spare tube, patch kit, pump, etc. They are supposed to have a 10 year shelf life. The Fenix PxD series is designed for lithium batteries only. They will not run on alkaline or NiMH batteries from what I understand.

The fenix lights have a clickie switch.. I have never had it change modes or click while riding... With the p2d I use standard cr123a batteries, since the p2d only needs 1 battery it is worth it for me, I carry a rechargeable as a spare in my seat pack.. I have gotten 2.5 hour runtime with a primary cr123a in the p2d in high mode, since I use it as secondary light.. Here are some runtime charts on the lights..

I use AW rechargeables with the p3d, I found 2 others but they did not fit well in the p3d, they work fine in the p2d but the runtime is about 1 hour.. It is 3+ hours for the AW's in the p3d in high mode..

Social you say your rcr123 gives 2.5hrs that's good. I'm leaning more on the P3D for the extra brightness (I go by some sketchy areas and see sketchies all the time. Never hurts for brighter as a secondary blinding weapon to get away) and runtime. However the charger and cells is my other concern. I was thinking of a all in one solution by getting the P3D or P2D off Fenix an possible a charger off them but I don't know how good thier chargers are.
