View Full Version : Finally back on the bike!
I had been on a business trip for the last 3 or so weeks and hadn't been able to ride. It was really bad since I was in Madison and Milwaukee, WI for part of it and it seemed that everyone was on a bike! Madison was the worst...I swear there were more bikes than people! lol
I rode about 16 miles today and could tell I had been off the bike for a while but it felt good!
Welcome back, Stujoe. Don't get too excited and pull something ;)
I stayed in exercise mode the entire trip...man those hotel exercise rooms are pretty vacant no matter the time of day or night! So, I am still pretty limbered up. No substitute for cranking the bike, though.
Next week starts the commute to work which should add about 60 miles a week to my mileage.

Good to have ya back in the saddle!
Thanks Tom. I didn't realize how much not riding would affect me. I think the 2 folks I was with had to listen to me whine about not having my bike entirely too much. :D

Think about this for those times you have to travel.....http://www.downtube.com/ss-index.html
Owner of the company is a BF member, by the way.
That is cool! If I traveled a lot, I think that would be a very interesting idea.
We were in Milwaukee for 5 days by the lake towards the end of the trip and I was real close to just getting an Xmart bike for $50 or $60, riding it for the 5 days and just leaving it unchained by the lake trail when I left. Weather ended up not being real great though.

Next time, rather than doing that and leaving it unchained by the trail, do that and donate it to Goodwill!:DThat is cool! If I traveled a lot, I think that would be a very interesting idea.

If the local Goodwill accepts bicycles. The four Goodwill locations within driving distance of my home don't accept or sell bikes because of liability issues.

Did you investigate bike rental? I rented a bike while in Cleveland in May. It was wonderful. I even met a BF poster, "half-bent."

Thanks! I found a bike rental place the last day we were there. It was $10 an hour for their MT/Comfort bikes but they only had some of the Surrey bikes and some kids bikes left when I stumbled across them..
That is interesting about the Goodwill, BTW. Crazy society we live in sometimes.
