Is a full suspension needed? Is it a better ride to have full suspension?

For a 20lb non-ebike you are a much better suspension than anything suspended you can buy. Sometimes though you don't want to work that hard and if the bike is light enough a suspended saddle or shock post type suspension will work when the unsuspended weight is so small relative to your bodyweight. Still, suspension development marches on and it gets lighter and comes in at ever lower pricepoints, you almost don't have a choice about it anymore for mountainbikes. However, for 75lbs - 100lbs of ebike batteries, electronics and motors a fully suspended chassis can offer real benefits, not just in ride quality but in the life of your expensive batteries and electronics. Most suspension parts out there did not have e-bike chassis in mind but that is changing of course.

so a cheap bike is good enough for dual suspension or just for the front?
