Southern California - Looking for routes in Temecula

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I will be down in the Temecula area over Labor Day weekend and we are looking for some routes to get some riding in...
We are staying near Ynez and Pauba.
Anyone have some routeslips?
Any organized or club rides we can join?
thanks

I am liable to be riding with a hangover...
I want to ride! :D Tracy will come up with something and if she doesn't, I will. Red Hawk Bikes has a group that goes out on Sunday mornings at 7.
Thanks Jan....

well then Jan is your gal ;) She knows all the routes that I would recommend! :p
I was there this weekend, the bike lanes seemed a little narrow to me. If you do ride use caution. BTW can you pick me up a bottle of Tatria from Stuart Vineyards while you are there ;)

The group that rides out of Red Hawk bikes usally goes through Rainbow Fallbroook on their Sunday rides, usally about 50 miles. I will try to ride with them when I can. The bike lanes are small but once you get out of town the traffic is minimal. Maybe would could put a BF ride together, their is plenty of roads to get a good hilly 50-60 miles. Let me know, I ride that area all the time.
ynez and pauba? take ynez (or margarita) down to south 79 and head east. if you want a nice 6.5-mile climb, hang a left on hwy 371 and that will take you up into anza. the bike lanes aren't the best, but it's a great climb.
or, you could do this route. tons of climbing through rainbow... i'm making a mapmyroute.com map. i'll post it in a sec...
here you go... it takes you from ynez & pauba, through rainbow heights (lots of climbing) then back down to hwy 395 and through some rad areas of fallbrook (wilt road and reche road, good climbs) then back to 395 and back to temecula. it says 25 miles, but that's not including the ride back to temecula from the 15/395 intersection. if you look at the map, you can change it to make it longer or whatever you want to do. should be fun.
also, keep in mind the bike lanes aren't exactly... existent.

Wow...thanks....thats looks pretty cool....
Is the cross over on I-15 that spectacular bridge?
thanks again
no, that's the lilac bridge

which is about 6 or 7 miles down the 15. this one is just a plain old overpass.
if you wanted some more crazy climbs, go through the hills east of that bridge and through couser canyon and sh*t. i got brutalized out there one day.

Couser Canyon and Rice Canyon are great places to ride.
I think that is the bridge we went over...then into Fallbrook and down one of those canyons...
herbm will be here this weekend and we're planning on riding Couser Canyon Saturday at 7 & possibly a wine country loop on Sunday if anyone is interested.

Which route through Cloudser Canyon? Mileage?
...I maybe in for that.
Here's herb's route:

We may not do the Camino Del Rey loop if it's too hot, so anywhere from 45-55 miles or so, I think.

...looks like my plans for tonight are shaping up so that there'd be no way I'll be conscious enough to get to Temecula by 7!
You kids have fun.
