Road Cycling - Felt strong yesterday and it showed!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I commute to work and have been using my Specialized Allez for the last month. Lately I've been feeling weak , until yesterday that is. I rode into work at my normal up for only 30 minutes and still asleep speed. For the ride home though, I was cooking! I averaged 21.8 MPH for the 9 mile ride. My personal best before yesterday was 19.1 MPH. I was ready to fall over afterwards, but felt great on accomplishing it. Hopefully tomorrow's weather will hold out so I can get another 50 mile ride in. I'm determined to finish a 50 mile ride with same level as energy as I do after finishing a 25-30 mile ride currently.

Sebring, got a question for you..I've been noticing that some of the members here on the forum have those specalized allez bikes..My question is, is your's in the color that they are painting them this year, either the white or grey zebra striped color??, or do you have an older model??..
Thanks,
Benjamin

There's multiple models of Allez and each one comes in a different color. I have the regular base model Allez which comes in Matte Blue. It's like a royal blue but in a flat finish instead of clear coated and shiney. I dig the color, but would like it clear coated. There's an Allez Sport, CrMo, and I forget what the full top of the line model is, but that's the zebra finish one that I believe Mario Cippolini races. I think that's who races on it.

sebring, do you warm up when you do your commute or do you go full bore right out the door?

It really depends on how I'm feeling. I get up at 5:30 to be out the door at 6:00am to go into work. SInce I'm still fairly tired, all out is still not a very hard pace. Depending on how busy my day is and how good a night sleep I had the night before I may push myself on the ride home. I do swing shifts so I ride to work my 2 day shifts. I usually take it easy on the second day, because after I wake up on my first night shift, I usually go for a long ride. Currently I do a 50 mile ride a couple times per week, working up to the 100 mile mark. So the first day I try to go hard, and the second day is kind of recovery. I live and work near the Delaware Bay so on both days, one way is usually a much harder effort ride due to high winds either off of or to the bay.

I'm sure I could, but will not have the chance to since I am moving Saturday and starting a new job.
