I've signed up for the North Shore Century in Evanston next month. Though very excited about my first 100-mile ride, I'm also a tiny bit anxious. For those who've previously done this ride, any advice, words of encouragement, what to expect, would be appreciated. Thanks much!

a longer line for pre registered riders then day of sign up riders. stop signs. rough roads. a mup section. a trip around a velodrome. a trip through some highend neighborhoods. lovely views of lake michigan.

that is all that comes to mind currently. good luck!! :)

later.

This was the first century I did 2 years ago. Rode the whole thing alone.
Last year was with a group of BFNICers.
Headwind both ways, soup if it is chilly at the rest stops. Rest stops are decently stocked. More sidestreets through neighborhoods than some of the other centuries.
Ride is pretty flat except for one overpass in Waukegan.
Did I mention the headwind?
I can only ride the metric century this year. I have to be home by 12:30.
I will be departing around 6:30 if you want to meet up with any of the BFNIC group.

I'm fairly certain I will be doing a the metric or 50 mile ride. I did the 100 last year.

Man, that headwind heading back south was brutal.

Try to get Psimet2001 to pull into the headwind for you, it made the ride much easier last year.

True there was someone else up front for the pull and it was Aham however we were probably slowing you down waiting up for us.
