We're building up an eBike with a two speed Crystalyte rear hub on a Giant mountain bike. We've been advised to use some durable tires as changing the rear will be less fun than normal.
What are you using in the 26 x 1.x size? I was going to try and swing by Harris today and get some Schwalbe Marathons, if they make them in the right size and if they have them in stock. Another other preferred choices?

Well, we quickly had our choices narrowed. The Schwalbes we ordered came in 20" and I couldn't find a local shop with 26" in stock.
The local REI had a pair of Michelin Transworld City 26x 1.95", so we bought those. They are advertised as anti-puncture and with 6,000km/3,500 mi life. Like the Schwalbes they have a reflective sidewall strip.

How's about them Big Apples? 2.35"
The Marathon Plus are "hard" tires not very comfy at all. Big apples, or plain Marathons are lighter and way more cushy, imho much better for that reason.

Hi :)
Mine are 26 x 1.75 Schwalbe Marathon Plus.
They are called antipuncture or antiflats beacuse they have a very hard and tough middle (when at the shop, pinch the middle and compare that to other grades of tires and you'll notice a difference).
I have actually experienced the difference in mileage with these tires versus knobby ones which originally came on my bike. These are far more efficient on the road (I have them on my ebike here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=440775) ).
I pump them to 70PSI (their prescribed limit) and IMO get really really good mileage on them. Expensive but well worth it.
From a durability perspective, they been holding on really well. I have so far 1700 km on my bike, going strong. :thumb:
Note: these are directional tires, which means you need to mind the arrow indicator on the side of the tire to install correctly.

Serfas Drifter...26 X 2.0 on the rear of my 750 watt TidalForce for the last 3k miles...$30.
Works great, rolls easy, pretty puncture resistant.
