Mountain Biking - Brake boss, Old Man Mountain question?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I received and installed an Old Man Mountain Sherpa rack yesterday. The only glitch encountered was the brake boss mount. My brake bosses are unused and have empty threaded holes where the brakes would normally mount. The Old Man Mountain came with several mounting screws, but the diameter of the screws is much smaller than the diameter of the boss holes.
Anyone know offhand what's the screw size that would normally fit into the brake boss holes? I'll pick up a couple of screws at Ace, no problem if I know what size.
In the meantime the rack is mounted on the seat stays with P clamps (included). But the setup would look nicer mounted to the bosses, and the shifter cable rubs on the P clamp.
Thanks,
-Bob
Should be M10x1.0
uh, m10 has a 10mm shank.. I'm thinking more like m6 or m8.
uh, m10 has a 10mm shank.. I'm thinking more like m6 or m8.That should be right. The boss itself is turned down smaller but the part that threads into the frame is relatively large. Standard v-brake boss plugs are 10mm; so, w/o an actual stud here at work to measure, I took my cue from that.
Just to clarify:
According to the instructions:
"Use supplied 20mm [M6x20mm] bolts to bolt the angled brackets onto the brake studs."
The supplied bolts, all M6, are much too small in diameter to screw directly into the brake bosses.

Ah, you don't actually have brake bosses, you have mounts on your frame for brake bosses. The bosses screw into that mount and then the m6 bolt screws into the boss.
Ah yes, that does explain it. I'm headed to the hardware store to buy an 8m and 10m screw to see which size fits. I've been in contact with Old Man Mountain, and they'll send me whatever size screws I need, plus the proper L brackets.

Ding ding - we have a winner!

I think that was established early-on; that was why I suggested a 10mm bolt.
