Besides if once you get started it looks like there is an issue, you could ride to the Summerland Cafe and have a great breakfast and return to Ventura, a nice little 50 miler.
Sorry, have you MET m.e.? She was ready to puke and still tried to convince me she could keep riding.

M.E., I know you said your out because of your asthma, but with the recent improvements in the conditions because of the onshore winds, it looks like it will be a great day, with no ash or smoke in the air over the century route. I think you should reconsider, it has the potential to be a great day and a great ride.
.

Lee, you're a sweetie (unlike Voltie), and although I will miss the BF hot men in spandex tomorrow, I actually did what the website suggested - I called my doctor's office. She unequivocally said NO. Something that I shouldn't share is that they are going to have to change my meds as one of them now doesn't appear to be working. The nurse told me it could turn into a nightmare if I were to inhale particles from fire (not necessarily smoke, btw). Everyone is different, and I'm just being cautious. It doesn't mean, however, that I don't want to be part of it. Duh, I've been in here and the other thread all day, and I'll be anxiously awaiting reports and pics tomorrow.

I was up for the ride, just not for cleaning up puke. I'm too OCD for that.

I AM STOKED! such good news to report!

just came back from recon of Montecito, East Mtn Dr, and foothills
Complete reversal from the past 2 days!
smoke has cleared to where its hardly discernible, better than a good day in LA...
no ash to speak of on the road
none thrown up by cars
really was prolly a 85% day as days go up here.

for anyone who has considered not ridin, I say you might rethink, at least for what I can see of the coastal areas.
if tomorrow is anything like today, it'll be another ****ty day in paradise :D

pics
1. smoke plume from downtown SB
2. clarity of East Mtn Dr area
3. East Mtn Drive view down to SB and Harbor
4. Mtn Drive looking from Intersection with Gibraltar Rd
5. Same vantage point just looking further east towards Carp and the 150 (the 150 still looks a bit sketchy on smoke).

see youz century riders at Rincon!

You just don't like me, do you? You know, I'm like a cat. If I think someone doesn't like me, I'll rub up against his leg every time I see him. :D

Which leg?

Okay, I'm down for the night. Right now my game day decision is to ride the Century along the coast and skip the hybrid I had planned. This is basically so I can avoid the Ojai area and any left over smoke and ash.

So, see you all in the morning.
