Why would that be?

I use front and rear brakes on my fixed gear. I'm glad to have both too.

don't rear brakes on fixies wear out the rear hub?Actually, not as much as most people think they do. Although one must ease back-pedalling when applying the rear brake. In fact, spoke cards do more harm on rear hubs than anything else.

a rear brake does the same thing your legs do when youre slowing down. rear brakes are gaudy and unnecessary.

Meanwhile I will keep my rear brake and my front brake, on just to spite people who think FG's shouldn't have any brakes at all.

If it's the ride I'm thinking about, it's a fixie ride started by the peeps over on lafixed.com -- I'd go, but Thursday night is poker night for me. And I'm up. :D

There's also a Tuesday night fixed ride over on lafixed.com that I keep meaning to go to, but I've been lazy as of late.
