Does anyone else here with a history of knee injury experience relapses or pain when the temperatures changes drastically? I have a history of right knee problems and my doc diagnosed me with patellar tendonitis in the spring. After 2 months of stretching exercises and easy spinning, my knee pain disaapeared. However, everytime we get a drastic temperature change the knee pain flares up again. Yesterday the temp dropped almost 20 degrees in 24 hours and this morning my knee is killing me. Am I nuts? Does this happen to anyone else?

Yeah same here, also it's sensitive enough that if my saddle is off by few mm it starts to bother me.

When it's really warm outside my knee feels great. I guess everything is more loose when it's hot. I just spent the summer in extreme heat and forgot I even had a problem, then since I've been home it's giving me a little nagging pain again.

I had orthoscopic surgery on my right knee so I could walk after a car accident. I get similar pains now and then. My fix is to do knee lifts and lockouts with medium weights and or Naproxen Sodium (Nuprin) if there is a lot of swelling and or pain. Generally the workout does the best for me.

Knees, ankles, and foot bones all go off for any weather change. A storm is coming as I'm typing this. Ow, Ow, Ow... Generally when the temperature changes quite allot from day to day there is also a barometric pressure change too. Pressure changes is what gets me.

Try a gentle-warm up period on those cold mornings. Be sure and keep the joint warm with enough clothing and allow the joint to 'loosen' up a little before pushing harder. Patellar tendonitis can lead to a terrible injury called patellar tendon rupture. (Been there, done that.) If the inflamation doesn't get better, see your orthopaedic surgeon.

I have the problem too, due to age and arthritis. I use a knee brace (the kind you slip on and tighten down with Velcro -- bought it at the drug store). It helps make sure that I'm not twisting the knee in some strange direction when I'm riding.

My 'itis is worse when the humidity is very high. I guess the heat and humidity helps the inflamation grow.

Join the club! I have osteoarthritic knees and during the winter around here, it doesn't get all that cold but sometimes it takes me 1/2 hr to 45 mins. to warm up the knees to "ramming speed.' This warmup is with knee warmers on also! I am going to get something wind-proof to cover my knee warmers so maybe I can warm up faster or maby something of neoprene rubber to warm and support till the ol' knees are ready.

I can also, generally a change in the weather coming, even during the summertime or when it is warmer out. Sometimes I can feel a change coming through a week in advance. My mother-in-law had arthritic hips and she was even better a predicting weather change than I am. But, with age, I seem to be catching up to her level of proficiency, damn it!
