Let's see... off the top of my head, here are some who were in it. Pretty stellar list of future stars.
Sean Penn
Jennifer Jason Leigh
Phoebe Cates
Anthony Edwards
Jason Stoltz
Judge Reinhold (where are they now bin)
Nicholas Coppola (before he was Nicholas Cage)
Forest Whitaker
Jennifer Jason Leigh, yes.

(Last Exit to Brooklyn)
Also: 50th anniversary of On The Road.
Dharma Bums was more bike-friendly, but without On the Road, not just Fast Times, but America itself would be impossible.

Who ever thought Sean Penn would become our de facto Secretary of State?

Best Sean Penn story I ever heard (I think it was related to someone in the press by Guy Ritchie): Ritchie was sitting in a hotel lobby in LA waiting on someone, when Sean Penn walks through. He sees Ritchie, stops and sits down, and proceeds to go on and on about how he loved "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and how he thinks Ritchie is a terrific director and is doing marvelous work. They chat for a while longer, all about Ritchie's work. After a while, Penn gets up to leave, saying he has an appointment. He ends the meeting with "Oh, yeah. And say 'hi' to whats-her-name for me."

Mr. Hand: Am I hallucinating here? Just what in the hell do you think you're doing?
Jeff Spicoli: Learning about Cuba, and having some food.
The Spicoli and Mr. Hand conversations are the best!
"Hey, there's no birthday party for me in here!"
Happy Birthday CyLowe97
feel better now?

If only I had the zen mindset of Spicoli I would feel better.
As it stands, I'll break out the DVD and watch it later on. Nothing like watching Phoebe Cates show Jennifer Jason Leigh the finer points of.... uhh.... not biting a carrot.....

It rained buckets all weekend around these parts, so I watched Fast Times with the Amy Heckerling & Cameron Crowe commentary track to pass the time. DVD commentary tracks are gnarley.
Among the things I learned:
"Kashmir" was used as the "Led Zeppelin IV, song 1, side 2" choice because it was the only song they could get Zep to approve. The fact that the song is from Physical Graffiti just made the scene even better. Apparently Zep doesn't give up songs for movies, but was willing to do it for Fast Times because Crowe had written so much about them in a positive light in Rolling Stone articles.
Sean Penn was so method about the Spicoli role that he changed his home answering machine to say "Jeff" was not home.
Bruce Springsteen's sister is one of the cheerleaders.
Ally Sheedy, Meg Tilly, and Matthew Broederick all read for parts, but didn't get them.
The Phoebe Cates pool scene was actually the first successful use of CGI. (just kidding... I made that up)
That movie is so great.

It was on over the weekend!! Of course, pool and pool house scenes were edited. :(
Did they use green screen to drop me in that scene again? I have litigation pending against those bastages.

Must have been you they kept talking about when they mentioned some kid from Tejas kept trying to dump 5 gallon buckets of HTH into the pool wanting to 'clean up the scene' or something.
They apologized for the key grip shooting you in the leg with a pistol and hope you healed up quickly.

"Are you really eighteen?"
"Yeah...yeah I'm really eighteen."
I can't pass by a little league dugout without grinning at that scene.
