There's a lot riding on this KP. While you've been hill training, Cypress has been smoke training. Make us NYers proud or we'll kill you.

I am not picky. I would settle for chicken blood, blood sausage, my own green gelatinous blood, whatever.

Penguin and I drove out to the course to check out the first climb.

My consensus was "ridiculous".

Good Luck Cypress. Let KP finish second.

Cypress
08-17-07, 08:29 PM
If I get a top 10, I'll be more than pleased.

We did go on a short ride today.

KP = climber

Cypress = sprinter.

jsharr
08-17-07, 08:31 PM
plays into my plan perfectly. KP=George Hincapie pulling the freight train. You=Tom Boonen sprinting to finish

Cypress
08-17-07, 08:34 PM
Maybe. It's sort of a hilltop finish, so if I can hang with the climbers over the first hill and suck a wheel up the last, I might be able to take the sprint with KP hot on my heels. There is sort of a "plan".

I'm out of the loop, but it seems that you all have a good ride coming and I hope you do well, as in Kick *****.

Greg, have you seen the first climb? My word, it's big.

I've ridden that entire course three separate times and have been up East Hawley road a number of times during weekend group rides. This was suppose to be my A ride for the year before I injured my back

Welcome to the steep fast, relentless pitches of New England. Just ride your ride brother. It ain't nothing but a hill! For the record and this comes from several veterans of this race, this race is not won on East Hawley Road...It is won in the last five miles climbing route 9. He who has the reserves then wins! :D

Remember Cypress they say no boinking before the race.. Just sayin..

VegaVixen
08-17-07, 09:12 PM
Ride it like you own it, baybuh. ;)

Cypress
08-17-07, 09:13 PM
I'm glad nothing will happen on Hawley. That would be just plain rude.

I'll save the boinking for tomorrow. During the race...

the race, she will be painful.

blood, there will be buckets full.

boinking, there will be plenty.

not necessarily in that order.

So here's the prediction for the race coming from my vast experience of watching the TdF highlights on the evening news:

Course is hilly and favors PD. Both CB and PD will stick up front w/ the pack and chase down any idiots that try breaks off the front. Coming up on the long climb, PD will stay out front w/ the climbers taking turns while CB tries to stick w/ them and ride their wheels the whole time. If he can't, oh well. If he can and can stay close on the final climb, he'll launch a sprint Robbie McEwan style. Tune in later to see if he's successful or if PD reps NY like he oughtta and pulls the 9mm from his musette bag.

VegaVixen

Nope :(

I fly back Sunday evening.

1) You're not even stayin' long enough to join the Lancaster Bridges metric ride?!

2) How much would it cost to change your return ticket to go through CLT?

Just curious. <shrug>

There's probably a number of BF/Foo'ers here in the greater NC/SC area that'd love to meet you. Free housing in my guest room. And I won't even make you clean my still-under-construction lap-pool. :)

Y'all are crazy. Today was freakin' beautiful weather for riding.

Cypress
08-18-07, 05:09 PM
Weather was terrible. We started the race in 55 degree temps and finished in MAYBE 60*. The wind was NASTY.

Cypress did not win. Cypress did not know where the finish line was (no "K" signs). Cypress DID lay big smack down on the monster climb. I pulled away from everyone but 10 people. The 10 of us stuck to our guns and were in a break for about 15 miles before the pack caught us. Fun race. Would do it again for sure, but only if the weather is nicer. Much nicer.

VegaVixen
08-18-07, 05:17 PM
Hey, congrats, baybuh! You finished it without a crash or being caught in a crash!

How'd TKP do? <chewin' on lower left lip>

No matter what, you two guys did us proud. I know I am glad to hear race reports from other Foo'ers. :)

So, Cypress, gonna come race in NC next year? No matter what's goin' on here with me by then, I'll put you up, so as to support you in cattin' up. I know how hard you're tryin'. :)

side wind almost knock me over in Rye, I swear... I unclipped and turned around, I made a stop at the bathroom and two other cyclists were there, they were planning on doing a century today and changed thier minds. I mean I ride in wind all the time but today those wind gusts were NASTY!!!!!!

Just to let The Cypress know, 50 mph winds and 55 degree temps in August are not the norm for New England. Now....88 degrees and humid...that would be more like it.

I lost my fitness peak, big time.

55 degrees in August? Man, New England is fuggin' goofy. Then again, it's 80 degrees here right now. It's usually ~25 degrees warmer than that this time of year. Not that I'm complaining.

In any case, it sounds like fun was had by all, so w00t to that.
