Well, yesterday I got caught in these nasty rainstorms in Houston, talking with some a buddys I didn't realize how bad the rain was until after about an hour I decide to head home. Well the water line was right below my bb and hubs so I decided to ride on through other than my braking being real sluggish I was surprised at how well took the water. Only close call was a crazy on comming 18 wheeler that soaked me wich didn't really matter at that point I was already soaked but the wake hitting the bike was a strange kind of rocked the bike a little. I only rode through this because I literaly ride these streets every day so I know it better than the back of my hand. It was fun passing cars fighting for higher ground and stuck until the waters went down. When I just splashed on through pedaling which was funny each stroke would completely submurge my foot and ankle, kinda fun, I guess that little boy in me still lives.

I really hate riding in heavy downpours. My shoes start filling up and the rain burns my eyes. Yuck.

MTB shoes sans the socks seemed fine but when I am in it for a long time the I hate getting the wrinklie skin. Same with gloves

Back in the early '90s when I was young and really loved mountain biking, I would sometimes ride in creeks or the river. It was fun unless you hit a slippery, algae coated boulder. :D I wouldn't do that now as it's dangerous and probably not very good for the wildlife. Back in the spring the MUP I ride to work was quite flooded in one spot (it runs beside the river). Deep, muddy, fast moving water really freaks me out.

I've ridden in rough weather including rain, snow, hail and cold. There's something inspiring about experiencing these moments on a bicycle. When I see motorists driving past me in those conditions, I actually feel sorry for them because they're missing out on something special.

I like riding when the conditions won't allow motorists to drive...:D Not me BTW just a picture I snagged during the storms last year. IIRC it is in Denver.

Yeah, the houston stuff has been bad the past couple days. I love a good rain ride, but always hope for sunshine. I won't take my nice bike through that,.... that's what I built the fixed gear for.
Hopefully the group ride today has more sun than rain. Or atleast lightning and thunder to keep it interesting :D

Do you have a larger copy of that...say maybe 1260x1024. i would love to have that as a background for my work PC.

Nope...that was the biggest one I got...IIRC it was posted in on either the Denver Post newspaper site or perhaps one of the local television stations website.

It is a cool picture

Oh man I hear ye! I just can't wait riding through another snowstorm this winter. The only thing that scares me a bit in these is the snowplow. ;)

Aaron:)That is so dope!:)
I must admit, a decent set of tires/wheels makes for versatile short range transportation.

+1 I live in NC 99% of the time I can commute on slicks. I used to keep a spare set of wheels with knobbies on them just for the occasional "SNOW EVENT":p A quick swap and out I would go to play. If I lived further north it would probably be a set of studded Nokians or Schwalbes:D I would think that only thing that would be really hard to ride in would be deep powder snow....deepest I ever rode in was around 9" and that wasn't too bad, especially after the plows ran through.

You too, eh?
One of my favorite memories is cycling in a Cat 1 hurricane in Florida.
Luckily I was going WITH the wind
