So I think it would be fun for next years tour to follow it, either a few hours ahead or immediately behind. My wife wants to rent an RV and follow it that way, going somewhere to watch each stage. I think it could work like this: camp somewhere overnight, leave on bike early in the morning, she drives to watch the stage, and then comes to the end after. Camp. Repeat. Anybody else interested in such a thing?

I'll be in Solvang for a few days to watch/ride, but can't swing more than that. I have a March show to prepare for. :(

Of course, if anyone just wants to ride with me a day or two that's fine too.

I did something similar in 2006. No follow vehicle, just three of us loaded tourers. (uh huh)

Going to do something similar in 2008 but have not worked out the details yet.

I'm planning for the Solvang leg too and can't wait. Maybe there will be a nice BF group turn out for that. :)

You just want to shack up with me in a cozy Danish inn with a couple of bottles of wine. Admit it.

You hussy.

My buddy and I talked about riding the Santa Rosa-Sacramento stage the day before but neither of us could get out of work.

Great Idea. I was just talking with some friends and they are thinking of doing the same thing. Of course we were suppose to do this last year..and the year before. etc. etc.

Keep this thread rolling ! This would be a great mini camp to start the season.

I just hope there are more Tour of California races, with the troubles with Amgen. Will they be able to continue to sponsor the tour? Will there be someone else who can step up to the plate? My fear is next year will be the last.
