Does anyone have any experience of the Cycle2work scheme (employer's announced that it will join it) ?

Can they source any bike ?

No direct experience (I'm Canadian), but from this document:

This appears to be consistent with other links on the Cycle2work scheme such as this one http://www.club-cycles.com/employees/faqs.asp

It might be best for you to call that number or email them to find out, especially if you already have a particular brand and model of bike in mind.

For my short commute (varies from 4km to 18km) I'd rather have one of those dutch bikes like the ones from http://www.raincitybikes.ca .

Hey,

Cycle2work is halford's own scheme so you will have to source your bike through them if this is the one you have available to you. They say on their website that they will do their best to source your dream bike so it may not be the end of the world.

Other schemes allow you to choose from any registered shop. If it's not already a done deal then I would encourage your employer to use an alternative (eg Cyclescheme) so that you and your colleagues can support local businesses.
