I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good tire, suitable for commuting purposes which is more resistant to punctures than the Kenda semi-slicks I have now. I have tried Slime with mixed results and the tube liners are difficult to keep centered. I am not so concerned with cost if they will do the job. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wheel size?

26"x1.5-1.95 will work. I guess I should have included that.

I've heard that slime doesn't work very well. I know that many people like the Armadillos from Specialized, but I don't know of the exact sizes they come in. They are a commuting tire, so they should be in the size you want.

Armadillos are very tough tires -- I rode a pair of Turbo Armadillo 700c x 23 all this year without a single flat, and I hit plenty of junk. When I replaced the tires this past week I noticed a deep cut in the front tire that should have been a flat (probably would have been on any other tire) but didn't flat the 'Dillos. The tradeoff for the toughness is that they're heavy and can be very hard to get on and off the rim. The only reason I'm replacing them after about a 1000 miles is that the sidewalls are starting to fray a little bit, and I've been wanting to try lighter tires anyway (the Conti GP 3000 tires I bought are about 140 grams lighter per tire - almost a third of a pound off, each). For the 26" wheels, look for the Nibus Armadillo.

My son has Specialized Nimbus Armadillos on the MTB he commutes with, and hasn't had a lick of trouble with them, and thinks highly of their performance.
I've used the Nimbus EX (not Armadillo, the Flak Jacket version) on two 700c bikes. One set, now four years and ??? thousands of miles old, is on the Trek hybrid I sold to a friend who commutes with it daily. Never a flat or any other problem. I recently put the other set (purchased at the same time at the first set during a Nashbar clearance sale) on my rain bike, and after several hundred miles I like them really well.
So I guess that's an endorsement of Specialized tires.

Armadillos. I use Hemisphere Armadillos on my MTB for paved and dirt road. 500 miles with no punctures. Turbo Armadillos on the road bike with no punctures in 2000 miles.

I just picked up some Turbo Armadillos for the road bike. I have heard great things about them. I put some Continental Gator skins on my commuter and have had 4 flats since then, and that is after years of no flats using Continental Town and Country's with Mr. Tuffy's. I am putting Mr. Tuffy's on the commuter and hopefully the Armadillos will work good enough on the road bike not to need liners.

You won't need liners with Armadillos, but the ride they give may be disappointing.
