Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Can't make up my mind, but want to do one of the organized rides on Sunday.

1. Oswego
2. Wright ride
3. Old mill in Oregon, IL

What are your plans? Anyone interested in meeting up on one of these...?

Damn kid birthdays! Anyway, I'm impressed you're going out riding already. I don't know that I should tell you this, but my little boy says a lot of crows are pecking the pavement where you fell.

Actually I stole that last line out of a book I'm reading called Cold Beer and Crocodiles about a guy who rides around the perimeter of Australia (10,000 miles). Hey, a new cycling goal! Not for ME, of course. You think I'm crazy? Glad to hear you're back on the road.

If you are wanting to be able to get out and ride at a decent pace, just remember that a lot of the Oak Park ride is "in town" ...lots of stop signs and turning. Very lovely scenic neighborhoods, of course, but not exactly conducive to speed. Once you get out toward Waterfall Glen, then it's pretty wide open.

Depends on what you're looking for.

How are you healing up? Crystal

I'm doing the Oswego ride, but it's a no-brainer for me since I live here. After reading psimet's comments on this ride and talking with a buddy of mine who did it before, I'm not expecting much. I'm also going for my first century tomorrow so riding on familiar roads can't hurt :)

The Old Mill is a wide open low-traffic country ride, that I would really like to do tomorrow, but Yikes!!!:

I'm doing a CX skills clinic in Madison. It's put on by the Madcross folks. It'll get me ready for the ChiCup races this Fall.

The weather doesn't sound real promising does it? :(

Maybe the rain will hold off.

I think I'm doing the Ronde de Fox River Path.

Don't bother looking that one up. It'll be me and a thousand other joggers, walkers, fishermen, strollers, and dogs on the MUP between Elgin and McHenry. Show and go whenever. No sign ups, no rest stops. Optional climb up Huntington Drive in Algonquin.

Isn't it a little late to start respecting the marathon?

Don't forget to band-aid your nipples, aham.

Me too. ( If it's not raining).
Decided to skip organised ride this weekend.
Will be doing 50-60 miles solo. Wave or say "Hi" if you see big guy on Giant TCX.

I actually think I am off the organized ride option for this weekend. I need to get out, but not sure what I am doing yet. Maybe a fied gear ride up the Fox Trail as well....

I hit the trainer for a Spinervals session, and then ran 2 miles on the treadmill. Nice after basically being inactive for 2 weeks (not totally, but esentially I was inactive).

Following CyLowe's idea and packing the family up to isit the new Schaumburg Performance store.

Drove 3 hours in the pouring rain to make it out to the CX clinic in Madison. It was a blast. It eventually cleared up, but not until after I took a hard hit on the pavement that tweaked my shoulder. I left at the end of the day with pretty muddy clothes and another 3 hour ride in the rain once the skies opened up again.

Good times.

Me and a friend did the Oswego ride (in the rain and thunder) yesterday. We both completed our first century :)

As was reported in previous posts, the ride was a bit different. The volunteers were great, actually outstanding. The rest stops were located on the sides of the road which was kinda wierd, but they worked. The food at the stops was your normal fare. The route was mostly out and back which I didn't really care for, but oh well I got over it.

All said and done for me it was 98.6 miles and a 15.6 average. Riding time was 6:19 time and 8:17 overall. We spent about an hour waiting out some nasty rain and thunder in a hunting club. That stop in itself could be worth a whole new thread ;)

Wow. You just put the 'nut' in 'wingnut.'

A century in that weather is no small feat.

I finished the Sizzling Century in Kokomo, IN last Sunday in under 6 hours with some light rain showers during the ride. I wanted to quit badly at around 65 miles but kept going nonetheless.
It was a well organized event with some great SAG stops.
I wanna get back on my back so badly.. stupid work.
