Does anyone have a Wipperman Connex piece for Campy 10s chains, and would it at all be possible to bring it for a fellow racer in need? You can guess that sometime untoward happened to my chain, and with *very* little time between now and race time, I'm likely up the creek without a paddle.

Total shot in the dark, and probably futile, but I thought I would ask.

Also, as an aside, if you're just reading for fun, do you think it would be advisable to try and use a Record ultra-narrow chain, freshly installed? The only catch is that I wound the chain through the derailleur over a piece of metal, not the jockey wheel (yeah, smart). So I pushed out the pin that I had just pushed in, and fixed the problem. It looks fine and whatnot, but according to what I've read, that's a big no-no.

Thoughts?

F it. Nevermind if you're going, cause I'm not.

I contemplated riding the dodgy chain and risking it. But, I'm not a sprinter, or that fast on flat land, so I'd probably be driving 6 hours total to take part in a 86 mile group ride followed by sprint finish.

Not worth it.

Last year there was a brutal crash in the cat 5 field because some guy snapped a chain in the final sprint. I have what you need, but I'm not going. Do you happen to live in sf? PM me soon and we can try to work something out.

Make that two brutal crashes near the finish! My crash in the B group was pretty bad as well, I jumped to follow a move and didn't look behind, hooked handlebars with someone at 26mph over pretty much gravel roads. I was toast.

skandal20- what happened at esparto? I saw your name on the start list.

Dunnigan is different this year and they changed the finis from a uphill to flat. 86 miles, couple rollers and dead flat. Pretty safe bet that it will be a very large sprint.
