When my daughter outgrows her 48cm Battaglin, I now have this 50cm Tommasini waiting in the garage. Oh yeah - daddy got a new frame today, too. A little reward for being such a good dad. :D
It may be initially off-putting because I'm 36, but I'm available for adoption. I'll learn to like fishing and do just about any father-son stuff as long as you build me bikes. That Ciocc looks like a good fit for me. ;)
I've seen that Ciocc recently, though I don't recall where. It's lovely, though.
Please, whatever you do, don't find one of those beautiful Italian bikes in a ~60cm. I'm afraid the temptation may just kill me!

Uh, let me know if you need someone to take in a spare 48 cm Battaglin. ;)

You might not be surprised to learn you're about #10 in the Battaglin line. :)

Probably on the C&V list, there's a whole thread on it over there. I don't have any Italian frames in 60cm, but I have a pretty cool ~62cm Gitane framesetthat I'll let go cheap. Columbus tubing, standard BB and chrome fork, too! ;)

Sorry, one dependent is enough. :D But if you have all the bits and need help building a bike, "will work for food" - meaning come on over, we'll put it together, and you can buy me lunch. I like building bikes - it's a disease that has no cure.
Now, if you have access to land where I can hunt feral hogs, we can revisit the whole "adoption" thing......;)

Columbus tubing, standard BB and chrome fork, too! ;)I fear the standover on a 62cm might be getting into the "too big" category. Plus, a French frame might not be quite as outspoken in forcing me to start hoarding C-Record bits. :p Then again, who knows?

Thanks. It's fun shooting at f1.2 but it can also be frustrating. :)
A big thank you to Norman for all his assistance in helping me swap out the compact for the triple. It will be hard to ever go back. One 30 mile ride and I'm totally spoiled by that 42 ring. 2006 Record 53/42/30 170mm cranks, 2006 Record Bottom Bracket, 2008 Comp (Centaur level) Triple long cage rear and front. Q Factor is wider but not an issue. Dang the Record stuff is smooooth.

Though with the nice logo-free frame, you need to attack those rims with some adhesive remover and a hairdryer to get it all matchy. :)
I need to start collecting parts for my own triple conversion. Lots of NOS 2006 Ultegra triples on eBay for nothing.

Nice job Bostic - you must have one heck of a versatile bike now. What cassette are you running there?

ballin dude! it's all about the glass :D
Nice job Bostic - you must have one heck of a versatile bike now. What cassette are you running there?
It's a 12-26 cassette matched up with the 53/42/30 front. The weight weenie in me got out the scale and the bike is .58 lbs heavier after the conversion. The Campagnolo Record bottom bracket is beyond smooooth though. It's pure silk to pedal compared to the new external outboard bearings on my Chorus UT cranks. Not that the new design is awful but it's definitely noticeable. I am still adjusting to the wider Q-Factor as I can feel it in the inner thighs. Marco and I both ordered a 23-26 cluster to replace the standard 23-25 that comes on the cassette.
Sounds like a great setup.
I guess it's high time I published my steed (crap picture, but it's all I got for now). Stock '07 Roubaix comp, my one significant upgrade was my tires - the Roubaix Pro's were just too wide for me to be deflating/reinflating my front wheel every time I put them in the back fo my car and hoovered up any available crud from the road. PR3s seem much nicer now.

I fancy the Roubaix line myself but I'll have to wait a little while longer before I can spring for a new one. I have to ride this piece for a while longer. I'm reposting it since I got the pretty wheels, tires, cages and carbon tape since the last pic. I wish I knew a way (besides a Sharpie) to get rid of the blue on the frame.

This forum really needs a "drool" emoticon thingie. I'd use it frequently. Nice ride BR. A CX bike is on my wish list, but I'm going to build one from the ground up methinks. Easier to slip under the Mrs. radar.

Yeah! I love it too. What local retailer did you choose? How was the experience? Just curious.
Starting tomorrow Mike's Bikes has the Tarmac S-Works SL for $4299. It's still too much money even if I sell the Roval Fusee Stars... That price makes it almost irresistable though. Must...Remain...Strong.

I got it from Mike's Bikes in Sacramento. They have their super sale this week so the bike was marked way down :D.
The experience was awesome, as always. I bought an Allez from the Mike's store in 2006, which was an awesome experience. I was completely new to road biking at the time, so they took the time to walk me through all the stuff I needed to know. Great price, super helpful, etc, which is why I keep going back.
Since then I've gotten to know most of the staff at the Sac store; I ride regularly with one of the sales people and race with the mechanics and sales staff that come out to Prairie City. Great store :). If you go to Sacramento, you can't go wrong with any of them, but Allie is the one who sold me my Tarmac.

Just brought home my first road bike about two weeks ago... My test rides on a 4.5 and 5.2 sealed the deal -- first times I had ever ridden carbon and I still cannot believe how smooth it is.
So far I've only got about 150 miles under my belt, but that includes a nice brisk 45 mile loop on sunday, 22 miles trying to explore a potential bike route monday, and ascents of both Hamilton and Page Mill.
http://www.conti.net/bmwcca/tm-1.jpg
That's a nice looking Trek. How much adjustment range is there in the integrated seatpost?
reidconti
04-23-08, 10:42 PM
Not sure exactly. Not a ton, maybe 3ish inches? Since the seat mast goes over the frame, it'll only go down as far as the mast has space for, which you can clearly see. What's not as obvious from the picture is what the minimum insertion is.

I got tired of cleaning white bar tape, so I replaced it with a suede textured tape, and replaced the white toupe with a black avatar saddle.

Naw. I've had it since 2004. I was lucky and snagged it at the beginning of a new season at my LBS so it was the last one left. Probably because it was a small frame size. Thanks. I just wish I had time to take better care of it. See that dirty ars chain?
It's a nice looking R600 (I really like black bikes). But is the frame a little large for you? I'm asking because I don't see the seatpost so low on road bikes very often.
Yeah. Love the De Rosa!

Yeah, my buddies make fun too. It fits cuz I have Short stubby legs and a long torso. Kinda gorrilla like, just not as mean or as hairy.
