But is the frame a little large for you? I'm asking because I don't see the seatpost so low on road bikes very often. Most bikes nowadays have a doofy compact geometry with a sloping top tube, which means you have to jut the seatpost out really far to make up for it, whereas the bike above has a standard horizontal toptube.

The Fuso is done, picked it up tonight from Shaw's. I went ahead and rode it 25 miles this evening. I don't have an accurate scale but my informal tests were 19.5 lbs. That's a few lbs heavier than the Pedal Force. It also completely destroys the carbon bike in every way possible. This thing accelerates like mad, rides like velvet and gives feedback on the road without being harsh. And the hubs are darn quiet compared to the red spokes.

Sweet! Is this your new century bike?
I'm thinking the Pedal Force is going to get some rest for a bit since this bike rides so darn well. 50/36 11-25 gearing. I took it up Moody road this evening to make sure the gearing works for the 11%-13% grade stuff.
Mmm, lugged steel goodness. Very nice.
Yeah, PF is crap...
oops! (see sig)

Congrats -- remember, STEEL IS REAL

ramon your fuso is hawwwt
terry said you'd been in the shop when i dropped the busted DS off after my crash but I didnt realize you were getting a new steelie built up.
another nice thing about steel bikes (aside from the ride, the look and the love) -- it was just $70 in repairs to get me running again. you can bet planting CF forks in the ground like I did would have destroyed them and likely the frame too. terry's comment when i picked it up was "You're going to have to work harder than that if you want to break this bike"

Yikes! Nice bike! I guess it's time for a Norcal STEEL ONLY (frame, fork) ride. No carbon, ti, aluminum, scandiwhateverium, bamboo, boron, and anything else I'm forgetting.

Here's our fun filled Kuwahara tandem which we bought new in 1986. It has Simplex friction shifters and uses the Suntour Barcon for the Arai drag brake. It's steel and bombproof! :thumb:

Nice bike Steelblue... Ok, HOT BIKE!
That deal is wicked! It's like $2395 shipped right?
Less than 1/2 the price for a similarly equipped Litespeed Icon... Can't wait for the full review.

This one was $1998 from the December group buy. It is definitely a great deal. On top of that, and thanks to my wife, I didn't have to pay for it.
The frame quality is quite good. The welds are consistent. From ride reports I read, everyone seems to like it. Unfortunately, I won't have time to ride it until next weekend. Work tomorrow and spending father's day with the family.

Thanks for the compliment.... I'll never be fast, so I might as well go for style points. :D
Yes - if I show up at the Davis "laid back" ride, this is what I'll be on. I finished it Saturday evening, and so far have about 60 miles on it. No issues yet. :)

I'd like to pick your brain about rebuilding bikes. I have one that I haven't started on yet because I don't know where to begin. You've got the best looking rebuilds, IMO.

Thank you for the high compliment! Anytime you wanna bring it by, we can have at it. I've got most all the tools and a good stand. Might cost you a Togo's sammich, though ...... :D
Caveat - Can't build wheels.
Seeing Pete's new taxi-bike reminded me that I don't have any current pictures of this one, so I decided to remedy the situation.

I'll take you up on that soon. I just want to show you what I bought (old steel Specialized Allez Sport) and get advice from you as to what you would do to it if you owned the bike. I hope to join you guys in Davis this Saturday so I'll bring the bike with me. I just have to get out of a party my wife commited us to.

Here is my daily commuter workhorse, a trusted friend since 1995 when I commuted daily in Colorado, rain or snow, from Sugarloaf to Boulder. Still going strong, now we travel a more modest route together on Foothill Expressway in milder, flatter California. In the photo you can see what's left of yesterday's secret recipe - my morning ride elixir in an old Full Cycle water bottle.
My bike came home from the LBS today. They changed the rear cassette, chain, cables, housing, and tape. I'm lazy, and time is short with 2 kids (I'm stay-at-home dad). So I had them do it. There was a problem with the freehub on my other back wheel and they are ordering parts. They'll have it fixed up in another week or so (no charge).
Anyway, here is my main ride:
