Ok not to be graphic or crude but my taint is killing me. I have a new saddle from my lbs that i have been on for 50 miles (past 10 days). I feel like I should be used to it by now. Do I have the wrong saddle or is it not angled correctly. Do I need to post pics? JK

What kind of saddle, and did you get the correct width for your sit bones?
Generally, the saddle should be level, allowing the sit bones to support you.

When I got my new bike the saddle it came with had kind of a hammock layout. It had a pressure relief for the pad, but I couldn't do anything to get rid of the irritation. I ended up with a Specialized Alias, with the cut out, much to my relief. I'm guessing it my just be an incompatible saddle/Bottom.
It took me a while to find a saddle that was comfortable. You might need to try something else. My LBS let me ride a few for a week or so and as long as I did not screw them up, they took them back and I traded out for something different. Some saddle companies have comfort guaranties. I'd say keep looking. I currently ride a WTB Speed V comp on my bikes.
I just received my Brooks B-17 in the mail from Walbikes.com, and I love it.
It did cost me 85 dollars shipped, along with the care kit, but I think it will be worth it.
I have already bought 1 35 dollar gel saddle that is trash, I didn't want to buy another.
The Brooks is still a little hard, but it sill is the most comfortable I have ridden.
Also Walbikes has a 6 months no questions asked return policy

Use chamois cream if you aren't, makes a huge difference for me.

How do you fit a saddle? Try them out until they feel okay?
Find a specialized store they have a "Butt o Meter"

sometimes it takes a few weeks for your ass to break in
it's taken me 2 or 3 weeks to get used to my new toupe
What kind of saddle is it???
I tried 3 before I got comfy. A good LBS will let you test ride one for a day or two and return it. I tried an ass-hatchet and returned for the same reason you are having-Too much pressure on the perineum. I tried a gel saddle, but it actually hurt after a long ride. I tried another, but it squeaked louder than a hookers bed on payday. I finally settled on a Brooks b-67.

LOL not gonna ask how you know this comparison

I'd guess you have the wrong saddle for your posterior, or just a poor adjustment. I'd play around with fit but if it's the wrong saddle for your behind, you're just spinning your wheels.

That saddle looks awful. What's your riding profile?
That is a stock Trek saddle! I doubt your LBS specifically selected it for you. :/
That's* a stock trek saddle????

Hate to tell you, but I've been on my saddle for 100 miles in the past week, and it still hurts. My saddle is the stock one that came with my Bianchi 18 years ago, and I know I got used to it back then, so expect to get used to this one. I don't think it's the saddle that breaks in, I think it's your butt.
From everything I read, it can take as long as 40 hours in the saddle before you can really judge. I'm sure it takes at least that long to break in the favorite recommendation around here, the Brooks B17. Give it a bit more time before throwing in the towel.
I gotta say that the Brooks B-17 was never uncomfortable for me, even though it's not broken in yet. I own 2 b-17s and a woman's version. I have less than 300 miles on each one, for sure. I just did 40 miles on one that was brand* new, and it was great. They're all still shiny and new, and my rear has never hurt.... I think it has to do with starting slow and yes--breaking your butt in, as well as having a good fit on your bike.

Yeah they did select that for me. I have a trek but my stock saddle was really small and hard. So they showed me a newer bike and I asked for a better saddle. I wasn't measured or anything they just grabbed it off the shelf.
What is "my riding profile"? Forgive me I am ignorant and new to this.
They gave you a woman's cruiser saddle....

That was the saddle that came stock on my 7200 (a Hybrid model).
Your "Riding profile": How do you ride? Upright (straight handlebars)? Or down in the "drops" (road handlebars)?
Yeah, but check the link out. It says it has woman specific features and it's a "cruiser" saddle.

I ride upright, straight handle bars. I am going to my LBS to talk to them and look at more saddles.
You might want to consider a Brooks B67 or Champion Flyer Saddle

Oh well thats the problem. I have yet to hear anyone say that Bontrager has comfy saddles. I have 3 Treks in my garage and none of the saddles were comfortable. Even my stick thin son hated the one on his bike.
OK, everyone having a comfy Bontrager saddle can now reply: :D

I don't know if I can talk my wife into that, $95 yikes!
Any budget oriented alternatives?

Also, the big, poofy, comfy lookin saddles rarely turn out to be comfy. You're better off breaking your ass in on a saddle like the specialized avatar. That's what I'd try first if I were you. MSRP is $85 but you can probably find one for around $50 on ebay.

When you're choosing a saddle, you want to go counterintuitive.
You'd THINK you want something wide and soft, but you're spinning pedals, not sitting on a couch. Cyclists ride narrow, firmly padded saddles because you want your saddle to support your sit-bones, AKA the Ischial Tuberosities. If you're feeling pain in your "taint" AKA perineum, then your weight is being supported there (and your plumbing is being crushed) and/or the excess padding is causing chafing. A saddle like yours looks comfy and feels great in the parking lot, but after a few miles it starts rubbing you the wrong way, and it only gets worse the more you ride it.
A saddle should be wide enough at the back that it supports your sit bones, narrow enough in the nose that it doesn't chafe your thighs, and it shouldn't press on your perineum. Often a saddle like that, for an unexperienced rider, looks like a torture device. The first few rides may FEEL like one, but provided the only pain is in your sit bones, it may well be the right saddle. After a week or so, you will barely notice it, and as your mileage increases, if it's the right saddle, it only gets better.
Which saddle that is, I can't tell you. It's a very individual thing.

^^Yup.
Having said that, weight loss had a tremendous effect for me with saddle comfort. Going from plenty of padding to not much, this is the one area of cycling that became more difficult.

I've experienced similar problems as you, even with high-end (expensive) saddles, size appropriately. Nothing is worse than a sore nether-region.
I think what you should try (aside from a new saddle) is sliding the seat forward 1/4" - 1/2" at a time. Your taint is not a weight-bearing zone. Believe it or not, us clydes have bones at the bottom of our butts that are designed for supporting us. (I needed a doctor to confirm this for me :p ) It sounds like all of your weight is carried between your taint and the nose of your saddle. If you slide back, or move your seat forward, your sit bones (which are behind your taint) will land on the wider part of the saddle. It will make an amazing improvement, especially LessTaintPain. :-)

It makes many of the points already mentioned but ties it all up in one article.
Hope it helps.

I have a knockoff of this saddle and love it. Neil gave it to me because he didn't like it.
