Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Clyde Down!

Neil Fein of Neils on Wheels fame took a tumble dismounting his bike at the start of the Bike Forums social ride this Saturday in Lancaster. His left knee was twisted. While he can drive with it, he's probably not riding in the Lancaster Covered Bridges Metric Century tomorrow.

Ouch! Not good!

Neil, tell him I hope he feels a bit better in the AM and can ride, but if he can't or doesn't feel up to it, he doesn't need to push it.

I know that feeling, hope he get's well soon. One thing about my orthopedic doctor, he gave me the option Physical Therapy or riding the bike. Easy to guess which one I choose :).

It was. Even my 16 miles were great.

Neil F. was very disappointed. He went to the trouble of preparing chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips for the Bike Forums riders. I was the only BF person who he saw eat them. Note I didn't write "one." Yum! :-)

Ouch... sorry to hear about Neil's misfortune during his ride. I hope he gets better soon and can fully recover.

I'm always afraid of going down too and take my turns extremely wide and slow.

Everyone, thanks for the words of get-well. I write an angsty blog entry about the ride (angsty enough for MySpace, probably) but it boils down to: Great to meet baj, stupid &^%%$ knee, bitter commplaining, blah blah blah. I'm probably not fit company at the moment, since this was the start of a week of vacation for me. But I'm planning to do this ride next year to meet more BF people for more than ten minutes.

Well it was great to meet you. It was just a shame that I met you as you were coming to put your bike back in the car. Hope you heal quickly and completely.

We gave the cookies to the ride volunteers as a gift from Bike Forums. Everyone connected to the ride was wonderful. Especially the SAG wagon that took care of "baj32161", AKA Brian. Brian is a diabetic, and he had a wound reopen on his right foot, the one he had the partial amputation on a few years ago when he was pushing 300 pounds. One of the SAG drivers not only got him bandaged and arranged for an ambulance to come out and treat him, he even gave him his own socks so Brian wouldn't need to wear his bloody ones. The SAG driver was named Neil.

I would be happy to come out to Indiana and argue with you, Tom. If Neil F. can manage to avoid hurting himself, then he could come too.
